ABOUT the campaign/Housing&scholarships

Alumni often describe their most treasured Sigma Nu experiences in relation to living or socializing in the chapter house. Chapter homes play a significant role in recruitment, provide a suitable community living environment, and teach members about operations, finances, personal responsibility, and how to navigate personal relationships.

Improving Chapter Housing

Across the nation, our chapters are competing with college and university budgets designated for significant upgrades to campus housing. Amenities once considered luxuries like private bathrooms, kitchens, and study lounges, are basic requirements for today’s students. Technology upgrades have become an expectation.

Competitive housing influences member recruitment and retention. When amenities in the chapter house aren’t comparable to on-campus alternatives, maintaining full occupancy can become a struggle, potentially placing the chapter under financial stress.

While many Sigma Nu chapter homes need major repairs or renovation, other chapters are simply in need of a house to call home. An investment in Sigma Nu property and chapter houses is an investment in our future.

Chapter Educational Funds & Chapter Scholarship Accounts

The Foundation has established a plan that will allow brothers, who naturally wish to support their own chapter, the option to make tax-deductible contributions for chapter house improvements, educational needs, and chapter scholarships. Gifts may be earmarked to a Chapter Educational Fund or Chapter Scholarship Account in the chapter’s name.

More than 75 Sigma Nu chapters have a CEF or CSA, and several are currently partnering with the Foundation on a chapter campaign strategy to raise support for these purposes.
